"I have also published a review on the Journeyman version.
The Masters model is a great all around karambit. It feels very solid using different grip styles and the lock-up is second to none. The two 5.11 Tactical karambits are my production folding karambits of choice. I don't leave home without one. I do not use one as a utility blade but keep it in my pocket for self-defense back-up only. I feel the quality of both models is worthy of considering them for personal protection in a necessary situation. My only gripe about the Masters model is that the S30V blade doesn't seem to come as sharp as I would like from the factory and getting a good edge on the karambit is difficult when S30V is involved. I have handled several and many of the S30V models are very sharp while others aren't quite as sharp. They are all sharp enough for their intended purpose but I would like to see a slightly sharper edge. Personally I think both models should come with the standard 154CM blade.
I also own the original Masters model as produced under the Blade-Tech name and there is very little difference between the current version and the original U.S. manufactured version. Don't let the "Taiwan" stamp on the current model fool you. These knives are very well made and worthy of your ownership.
If you are in the market for a folding karambit then 5.11 is the way to go."
"I think the knife is an all around great defensive tool. I wish the knife would come in an assisted blade though (My only gripe). But the weight/feel/blade is amazing. I recommend it to anyone who was a great defensive weapon."
